Dear Goose,
I'm in Scotland!
Edinburgh to be exact and don't you dare say it the chumpy Western way. It's not a giant blimp in the sky or an icey monstra in the sea, it's not The Edin Berg! No, no, not that but rather like a self-governing incorporated city. Don't pretend ignorance, we have them too. In New York, London, even lil' old blue Vancouver. And when in doubt, think borrow, in terms where pronounciation is concerned. You know, like... Edin will borrow the rest from your waking days, it will borrow the pleasantness in your shins and replace that with splinters, will borrow the money from your pocket in exchange for experiences you'll never forget and at last, borrow your sanity for a brief, hot minute that lasts about as long as most sexual encounters.
It's been a gas so far and I'm only 4 days in to a two week stay.
Folks keep badgering me to see Nessi! Go and try to glimpse the Lochie Monster that may or may not dwell in the cursed depths of The Scottish Waters. So, I'm going to go collect more shin splints and see (or not see) for myself... but on the morrow, not today, good god it's eight and something hours of walking and I'm an indoor cat, Goose, I wasn't made for the wilderness.
Nevertheless, I shall go... into uncomfotrability and into the brave wide open as it were. What else is there in this fucking life, damnit, then to put onself at a constant, in uncomfy situations, only to grow or learn from said trails. For I think if I truly had it my way, I'd live in a bed all day and never escape the sultry, silky confines of my perfect pillows in an expertly tempered room with soft, sweet golden leaks of light and the gentle purr of charging technology. But then I wouldn't see much but my own naked body and though that's a delight in itself... you know what they say... behind every beautiful woman... there's a trail of unseen filth (tear-stained linens mostly that leave little to be desired and get rather boring to anyone's eye). I digress...
I'll tell you Goose, I wasn't sure about it here in the first few days of my arrival. I owe much of that despondance to mere jet-lag which has been boxing me sideways since touchdown. Today, I woke at a lazy 1PM (6AM my time back home) but that felt terrible. A whole morning wasted and yet I had all the spunk and vigor of a rooster at that moment, there was so much roosting to do and here I was half-the-day in the jowels of slumber. Yuuuug. Jet-lag better not chokehold me on the way back - isn't it supposed to be easier going than coming? Hey-oh!
Some good has arisen from this late wake up and that is that it forced me to get ready in a flash so I could at least grab a nice cuppa before the coffee shops closed and after four days of hunting for the sweetest spot to write my little story (which of course could easily turn into an eight-book series but that conversation is for another time), I think I've found it. It's got that hole-in-the-wall, jazzy-playlist, pick-your-own-prefered-sugar-packets-in-a-basket, friendly septum-peirced barista vibe I like and lean towards. Cozy chair cushions padding not so cozy chairs that do the job well enough to warrant replacement, big-handed coffee cups of an earthy quality, soft pastel blue and speckled with that glaze everyone notes for hand-thrown. Tepid tap water in tall rocks glasses and to my happy surpise, an electrical socket right next to the one-man tbale I will no doubt be occupying for the next two weeks. I could tell immediately. Me likely... Mine.
And so, I will do just fine here on my own. I will do just fine methinks.
I can't tell you what a delight it is to have a new pen pal, Goose. My last encounter with correspondacne went completely unanswered, can you beleive that? Not one blooming letter back! Oh Goose, such is the way.
Growing pains are Knowing pains.
We need them both to gain them both.
In any case, what an absolute bliss it is to be able to write and tell you all about this shenanigus life of mine.
Don't forget to lick your stamp!
Ta ta for now,
-- Boom Boom
